The Highlander is one of the best SUVs on the market, with Toyota maximizing comfort and style both inside and out. This SUV offers a spacious interior across three-rows of seating, and there are many smart storage solutions for hauling cargo. The powertrain is not only powerful enough for taking on towing, but it has many efficient features that make it easy to maximize fuel economy during every drive. The Highlander has received a great range of new features for 2017, including updates to the grille and LED taillights, as well as a new V6 engine with automatic stop-start and an eight-speed automatic transmission. Under the Highlander's Hood
There are multiple options when it comes to the powertrain of the Highlander. The standard 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine will be linked to a six-speed automatic transmission, as well as a front-wheel drive system. It has 185 horsepower and 184 lb-ft of torque, and it will be the standard engine on the base LE trim. The engine that is standard on all of the other trims, and optional on the base trim, is a 3.5-liter V6. This new engine is mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission. The V6 is equipped with a front-wheel drive system, but an all-wheel drive system is an option. Additionally, Toyota offers their Highlander Hybrid model which will utilize a 3.5-liter V6 engine and electric motors.
Design of Toyota Highlander
The new Highlander competes in the large three-row crossover SUV segment, and it is offered with seating for seven or eight passengers. The standard bench seat will offer comfort for eight, while the optional second-row captain's chairs can seat seven passengers. Six trim levels will be offered with the Highlander, and every option will come equipped with a wide range of excellent standard equipment. The base LE trim features highlights like rear privacy glass, 18-inch alloy wheels, and a windshield wiper de-icer. The interior has great cloth upholstery, and convenient 60/40-split second-row seats that can fold, recline, and slide. The 60/40-split third-row seat can recline and fold. The standard entertainment features include a 6.1-inch touchscreen, a six-speaker sound system, Bluetooth, and a CD player. There is also an auxiliary audio jack, and five USB ports located throughout the vehicle. Some of the excellent features found on the higher trims will include a sunroof, heated front seats, heated and ventilated front seats, and heated second-row seats.
